From Estrangement to Security Alignment: Τhe Greece–Israel Rapprochement through Alliance Theory
Abstract
The developing relationship between Greece and Israel represents one of the most significant realignments in Eastern Mediterranean geopolitics in recent years. The paper examines its formation and consolidation, focusing on its underlying foundations, and assessing how the deterioration of Turkey–Israel relations, the discovery of energy resources in the Eastern Mediterranean, and the broader restructuring of the regional security system shaped this alignment.
