A Challenge to Perception: Revisiting Ahmad Shah Durrani’s Empire & the Modern Identity of Afghanistan
Abstract
Ahmad Shah Durrani’s has been characterized by academia as a ruthless plunderer of northern India and incompetent statesman, with a focus on Orientalist narratives and without any further review. Necessitating a comprehensive review of the material contemporary and modern, an investigation will be carried out that will look and both him and his successors’ impact. By comparing and critiquing the modern material about him, a grounded view of modern-day Afghanistan can be done positively.
