Constructing the Jewish Image: Narratives During the Establishment of Israel

Abstract

This paper aims to shed a light on how the Turkish print press portrayed ‘the Jew’ amid the unfolding Arab-Israeli conflict and presented the conflict itself in the 1947-1949 period. In doing so, it compares framings of the secular and Islamist press by drawing on two distinct sets of sources, highlighting convergences and divergences.
